Human Complement Acquisition Program

Are you a healthy adult (18 to 65) who has never received a meningitis vaccination and has never had meningococcal meningitis?  

If so, you may be eligible (additional conditions may apply) for this research study that includes at least one blood draw with potential follow up blood draws. There is no treatment to be administered. By participating in the study, you may be compensated for time and travel expenses.

High Cholesterol

Qualified participants must:
* Be 40 years or older with elevated LDL-C levels (bad cholesterol)
* Have had a heart attack or unstable angina within the last year
* Prescribed a statin (Lipitor or Crestor)
* Additional conditions may apply

We are conducting a study to compare an investigational medication to placebo (inactive medication) given every two weeks in order to determine its effectiveness on high cholesterol in those with a recent  heart attack  By participating in the study, you may be compensated for time and travel expenses.

Coronary Artery Disease

Qualified participants must:
Be aged 50 years or older who has had a heart attack within the last three years and also has at least 1 of the following risk factors:
    *Age ≥ 65 years
    *Diabetes mellitus on medication 
    *Additional heart attacks in the last year
    *Diagnosed coronary artery disease
    *Chronic renal disease 

If you meet these criteria, you may be eligible to participate in a research study that will examine the burden of disease and unmet medical needs in coronary artery disease patients post-heart attack.  Enrolling patients will be asked to complete a confidential questionnaire and will receive bi-yearly followup calls for three years.  There is no treatment to be administered.
